In classical architecture, fireplaces serve as the focal point of living rooms and lounges. As a crucial component completing the symmetrical structure of this centerpiece, the FIREPLACE RIGHT LEG, together with its left counterpart, forms the vertical supporting design that holds the top mantel shelf. Traditional stone, plaster, or marble materials present challenges like high weight and fragility, which are easily overcome with Polure technology. Manufactured from high-density (150-200 kg/m³) rigid polyurethane, these products offer a surface hardness close to wood while providing an exceptionally lightweight alternative that places no unnecessary load on the building structure.
Architectural Details and Aesthetic Versatility
Forming the right vertical jamb of fireplace surrounds, these custom designs showcase even the most intricate motifs flawlessly on their surface, thanks to advanced precision molding technology. Whether in classical, baroque, neoclassical, or modern styles, the design of the right leg defines the character of the entire space. Fluted lines, acanthus leaves, or sleek minimalist profiles offer ultimate design flexibility. Unlike heavy marble blocks, installation is highly practical and can be safely applied even on lightweight partition walls like drywall.
Technical Advantages and Durability Standards
- Density and Hardness: The closed-cell structure with a density of 150-200 kg/m³ provides high impact resistance and allows it to be processed just like wood.
- Temperature and Moisture Resistance: It experiences no deformation or expansion in temperatures ranging from -20°C to +80°C. With a water absorption rate below 1%, it is completely unaffected by humidity, preventing rot, mold, or decay.
- Dimensional Stability: Unlike wood, it features a stable structure that does not warp, crack, or shrink over time.
- Fire Behavior: It is highly flame-retardant and possesses self-extinguishing properties once the flame source is removed.
Surface Preparation and Painting Guidelines
The products are shipped with a factory-applied primer coat. This factory primer prepares the surface for excellent paint adhesion. However, paint manufacturers do not guarantee applications done without their own primer systems. Therefore, applying an additional primer before the final coat is optional and entirely at the customer's discretion. Polure does not guarantee or assume liability for the performance or longevity of the paints used. For indoor applications, water-based or synthetic interior paints can be preferred, while UV-resistant paints are mandatory for outdoor applications due to direct sunlight exposure. Unpainted polyurethane materials may yellow over time.
Usage Areas
FIREPLACE RIGHT LEG models offer both decorative and functional solutions for interior design. They are used to create the outer frame of electric, bioethanol, or artificial fireplaces in living rooms and lobby areas. They serve as the right supporting column of fireplace mantels in classically designed villas, hotel suites, restaurant entrances, and prestigious office projects. Additionally, in creative interior design projects, they can be utilized as console legs or supports for under-mirror credenzas. Thanks to their fully waterproof and moisture-resistant structure, they can also be safely preferred for decorative fireplace designs in indoor pool areas or spa centers.
Installation
For the installation of the FIREPLACE RIGHT LEG, follow these steps: 1. The wall and floor surfaces where the installation will take place must be completely clean and dry. 2. To ensure symmetry with the left leg and the top shelf, a 45-degree miter cut should be made at the joints. 3. Only polyurethane (PU) construction adhesive must be used for bonding; silicone-based adhesives must absolutely be avoided. 4. For a secure installation, mechanical fastening with screws is mandatory. 5. Joint lines and screw heads must be filled with putty and smoothed using 180-220 grit sandpaper. 6. In the final step, an optional primer is applied, followed by 2 coats of paint. For outdoor use, UV-resistant paint and exterior-grade putty are required.
Care Information
Maintenance of the products is extremely easy. For dusting and routine cleaning, using a slightly damp, soft cloth is sufficient. Abrasive chemicals, thinners, solvents, or stiff brushes that could damage the surface must never be used. If you wish to refresh the surface color or change your decor over time, you can easily repaint it with water-based paints after a light sanding.
