Polfix Adhesive is a specially formulated assembly adhesive designed to securely bond rigid polyurethane decorative profiles, crown moldings, window surrounds, and wall panels to mineral substrates such as plaster, concrete, and drywall. Featuring superior bonding strength, this product covers a wide range of architectural applications, from interior decoration to exterior cladding. Its non-sag formula provides great convenience for installers and architects when mounting heavy decorative components.
Technical Advantages and Chemical Structure
Providing a long-lasting bonding solution in construction projects, Polfix Adhesive stands out with its powerful moisture-curing formulation. Maintaining its mechanical strength even under harsh weather conditions, this high-performance adhesive fully integrates with the substrate without expanding or shrinking. It ensures exceptional performance in every detail, from interior wall-ceiling joints to exterior window surrounds.
- High Initial Grab: Eliminates the risk of sagging on vertical applications and firmly connects joint lines.
- Dimensional Stability Test: Maintains its shape and bonding power, with dimensional stability tested between -20 °C and +70 °C.
- Water and Moisture Resistance: Perfectly compatible with structural elements having water absorption below 1%, without rotting or degrading.
- Crack-Free Flexibility: Retains elasticity against structural movements and micro-vibrations, preventing cracks at joint seams.
Application Details in Architectural Projects
Using a polyurethane (PU) assembly adhesive is essential for securely mounting heavy profiles, ceiling roses, and column claddings used in classical and modern architecture. Thanks to its gap-filling capability, the adhesive creates seamless bonds even on rough and uneven wall surfaces. Once cured, it can be sanded and filled with putty to achieve a completely smooth line along the installation seam.
When installing factory-primed profiles, connecting the joints with the correct chemical product is fundamental for long-term aesthetic durability. Silicone-based products lose elasticity and bonding power over time; therefore, silicone must never be used for architectural profiles, and polyurethane adhesive systems should strictly be preferred.
Usage Areas
Polfix Adhesive offers a versatile range of applications. In interior spaces, it is reliably used for installing crown moldings, ceiling roses, wall trims, baseboards, and wall panels. For exterior applications, it provides high adhesion when securing window surrounds, string courses, corbels, column claddings, keystones, and sills onto mineral surfaces. It forms an exceptional bond with all porous building materials, including concrete, brick, aerated concrete, wood, stone, and drywall.
Installation
Surfaces must be clean, dry, and completely free from dust, oil, moisture, and loose particles before installation. After cutting profiles at a 45-degree miter angle, apply continuous beads of polyurethane assembly adhesive onto the back surface. Press the profile firmly into place and secure mechanically with screws or nails for structural support. Wipe away excess adhesive with solvent before it hardens. Fill joint lines with interior or exterior putty and smooth with 180-220 grit sandpaper. While the factory primer prepares the surface for painting, applying an additional coat of primer is optional per paint manufacturer requirements. Complete the process with two coats of paint.
Care Information
Once fully cured, Polfix Adhesive requires no additional maintenance. Any excess adhesive must be cleaned before curing; dried residues can only be removed mechanically by sanding or cutting. Store unused products in their original packaging in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
