Decorative Solutions Crowning Classical Architecture
For architects aiming to create an aristocratic ambiance and an aesthetic focal point in living spaces, fireplace surrounds are indispensable design elements. Our rigid polyurethane-based fireplace mantels at Polure offer innovative alternatives that eliminate the heavy weight of marble and the high maintenance of wood. With a density of 150-200 kg/m³, this specialized material matches the hardness of wood while remaining exceptionally lightweight. This ensures a majestic look without adding static load to buildings. Frequently preferred in interior design and prestigious hotel projects, these decorative elements stand out with their rich details and sharp lines.
Technical Superiority and Material Quality
The closed-cell raw material used in our production is fully resistant to moisture and water. With a water absorption rate below 1%, it can be safely installed even in bathroom transitions or damp winter gardens. Featuring high dimensional stability, these systems retain their shape in temperatures ranging from -20°C to +80°C, without shrinking or expanding. Our iconic designs, such as P8401, P8402, and P8403, perfectly replicate the intricate details of classical carving on their surfaces. These models can be integrated with electric heating units to offer both a visual feast and a functional heating solution.
Advantages in Architectural Projects
- Lightweight & Durable: An impact-resistant structure that eliminates the risk of breakage associated with plaster alternatives.
- Wide Product Range: Size options ranging from 120 cm to 145 cm to accommodate various wall widths.
- Easy Workability: Flexible structural properties that allow it to be cut, drilled, and sanded just like wood.
- Paint Compatibility: Thanks to its factory-primed surface, it can be easily painted with water-based or synthetic paints.
The P8403W model, which stands out with its deep structure, or the P8402 model, developed for more compact spaces, helps you create a striking focal point in your living areas. Polyurethane fireplaces manufactured with Polure quality enrich the overall architectural language of the space while shortening project delivery times thanks to their rapid installation.
Usage Areas
Fireplace surrounds are used to create a focal point in a wide range of settings, from residential projects to commercial spaces. They are especially positioned at the center of living rooms in luxury homes, placed under TV units, or paired with elegant mirrors. They create a prestigious welcoming area in hotel lobbies, restaurant entrances, and boutique cafe designs. In bedrooms, models like P8402 are preferred to achieve a more minimal and cozy atmosphere. In studies and libraries, they provide an excellent transition between bookshelf modules to enhance intellectual depth. Although direct outdoor use is not common, they can be safely applied in covered terraces and sunrooms when coated with UV-resistant exterior paints.
Installation
During the installation of polyurethane fireplaces, the wall surface must be completely dry, clean, and free of dust. The side pillars and the top mantel shelf should be assembled on a flat surface for a dry-fit alignment check before installation. A 45-degree miter cut must be applied at the joints. Silicone-based adhesives should never be used; instead, high-strength PU adhesives such as Polure Polfix are highly recommended. In addition to the adhesive, mechanical fastening with screws is mandatory to secure the product to the wall. Screw heads and joints should be filled with high-quality joint filler and sanded smooth with 180-220 grit sandpaper. Finally, a primer should be applied, followed by two coats of water-based or synthetic paint to complete the process.
Care Information
Maintenance of decorative fireplaces made of high-density rigid foam is highly practical. A slightly damp, soft cloth is sufficient for dusting and cleaning. Abrasive chemicals and cleaning agents containing heavy solvents must be avoided. Thanks to their closed-cell structure, these moisture-resistant products do not crumble, crack, or blister like plaster. Minor dents or scratches that may occur over the years can be easily repaired with a fine filler, followed by light sanding and touch-up painting. If a color change is desired, the surface can be lightly sanded and a new coat of paint can be applied directly.
